Two Public SchoolsExploring an urban educational environment in Makati. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino High School Our van drove through the gates into a large parking lot with tall buildings, resembling an apartment complex or urban building instead of a school! The school has over 5,200 students and 242 teachers. Due to the large population of students, two shifts are offered to accommodate students; 7th and 10th grade students attend from 6:00 - 11:20 AM, 8th and 9th grade attend from 11:40 AM - 5:00 PM. Since the Philippines just adopted the K-12 system, a new schedule will be created for next year. The average class size is 32 students with a maximum class size of 50 students. The school serves the needs of the students with a Feeding Center to assist students who are malnourished, dental/medical clinic (2 nurses/shift), and school supplies and uniforms are provided by the government for all students. Each morning all students begin the day with a prayer and also pray within their classes.
